Mark attended University of New Mexico and the University of Colorado receiving a degree in Kinesiology.

Desi attended Colorado State University, University of Northern Colorado, and Metropolitan State College graduating with a degree in Business Marketing.

Mark and Desi started MDLI as a result of noticing a lack of quality staffing support companies. They envisioned a company that not only exhibited their core values, but also treated their employees and their customers like family.

Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a skilled Structural Steel QA/QC Engineer to ensure the quality and compliance of structural steel components throughout the fabrication and construction phases of our projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting inspections, implementing quality control procedures, and collaborating with project teams to uphold the highest standards of excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform quality inspections of structural steel materials, components, and assemblies according to project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory
    requirements.
  2. Develop and implement quality control plans, procedures, and documentation to ensure adherence to project requirements.
  3. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, fabricators, and subcontractors to address quality issues and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  4. Conduct visual inspections, dimensional checks, and non-destructive testing
    (NDT) as necessary to verify the integrity and compliance of structural steel elements.
  5. Maintain accurate records of inspection results, test reports, and quality documentation to support project documentation and compliance requirements.
  6. Provide technical guidance and support to construction teams regarding welding procedures, material handling, and installation practices.
  7. Participate in project meetings, reviews, and audits to monitor quality performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  8. Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to structural steel fabrication and construction.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in structural steel fabrication, construction, or quality assurance/quality control.
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and fabrication codes (e.g., AISC, AWS, ASTM).
  • Certification in welding inspection (e.g., AWS CWI) and non-destructive testing (e.g., ASNT Level II) preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems (QMS), inspection techniques, and testing methods for structural steel.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy, integrity, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as MS Office, AutoCAD, and quality management software.

Civil QA/QC Inspector

Job Summary:

As a Civil QA/QC Inspector, you will be responsible for overseeing and inspecting construction projects to ensure compliance with project specifications, regulatory requirements, and quality standards. You will conduct inspections, document findings, and collaborate with project teams to address any quality issues promptly. Your attention to detail and knowledge of construction processes will contribute to the successful completion of projects with high quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities:

  1. Inspection and Testing: Conduct thorough inspections of civil construction
    activities, including materials, structural components, and installations. Perform
    quality control tests as necessary to verify compliance with project specifications
    and standards.
  2. Documentation: Prepare detailed inspection reports documenting findings,
    deviations from specifications, and non-conformances. Maintain accurate records
    of inspection results, test reports, and corrective actions taken.
  3. Compliance Assurance: Ensure that construction activities adhere to relevant
    codes, regulations, and industry standards. Identify and address any
    discrepancies or deficiencies in construction practices or materials.
  4. Quality Control: Monitor and evaluate construction processes to identify

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASTM, ACI, AISC).
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Certifications such as Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) may be preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction materials testing procedures and equipment.
  • Work Environment: Civil QA/QC Inspectors typically work on construction sites,
    where they may be exposed to outdoor conditions and physical exertion. Travel to various project locations may be required, and the work may involve occasional weekend or evening hours to accommodate project schedules.

Warehouse Specialist – Materials Management

JOB DESCRIPTION/SCOPE:

The Warehouse Specialist works closely with the Materials Specialist to support the Materials Manager and Supply Chain Management function by executing daily operations at the equipment yard. The position is fundamental to the safe and efficient operations of the warehouse and inventory management process.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

1.  Assisting the Materials Manager in:

– Safe warehouse, yard, and office operations
– Work closely with each of the functional groups within the business unit to meet their needs and achieve industry  leading results
– Occasional loading/unloading materials shipments when Equipment Operator is unavailable
– Assistance with training and auditing Equipment Operator duties
– Surplus sales process execution (take/share photos, communication with buyers and sales contacts)
– Inventory counting and reconciliation
– Inspect and ensure proper storage of materials
– Maintaining a clean and organized work environment
– Process efficiency improvements
– Inspection of material handling equipment
– Maintaining records of daily activities

2. Self-motivated to identify and resolve issues that are identified through individual efforts and
escalation when required. 

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of material handling equipment experience (forklift, telehandler).
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
  • Computer literacy
    – Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint
    – A basic understanding of SAP preferred
  • A basic understanding of inventory management (count procedures, transactions in an ERP system,
    etc.)
  • Self-starter, motivated to initiate projects / conversations and new ideas in problem solving.
  • Demonstrates pro-active, collaborative approach with ability to build positive relationships within
    department and organization.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing work priorities to match the needs of the business
    unit

Asset Integrity – API 510 Inspector

Looking for a certified API 510 Inspector to join our team!

Job Description:

Reporting to the QA/QC Supervisor, the API 510 pressure vessel inspector would be responsible for preparing, implementing, and maintaining pressure vessel inspection programs in accordance with the quality management system (QMS), including report writing and documentation.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

1. Assist with developing, implementing, and maintaining the pressure vessel
inspection plan together with engineering and corrosion specialist support,
meeting all QMS requirements.

2. Perform inspection tasks and schedule monitoring programs to assure the mechanical integrity of the equipment, including:

  • familiarize themselves with prior history of the vessels they are
    responsible for, reviewing the vessel’s prior inspection results, prior repairs, and current inspection plan;
  • determine the types of inspection required
  • perform internal inspection of vessels in accordance with the inspection plan;
  • verify that all new materials used during repairs or alterations are consistent with the specifications;
  • assure that the minimum preheat and postweld heat treatments are performed in accordance with the qualified welding procedures.
  • authorize any repair or alteration work before the work is started, and designate the hold points that are required;
  • determine the corrosion rates, remaining life, and next inspection date for each pressure vessel;
  • assess preferential weld corrosion of in-service welds and joints;
  • review and update the inspection and NDE techniques required for each equipment, including the extent and locations of inspection and NDE;
  • ensure all NDE results are evaluated and determined to be accepted or rejected, with recommendations to resolve all deficiencies.
  • review and update the surface cleaning requirements needed for inspection and examinations;
  • determine the pressure test requirements for pressure vessels after alterations or major repairs, i.e., type of test, test medium, test pressure, test gauges, duration, regulatory requirements and forms;
  • identify and document any required repairs, including ensuring all regulatory rules are followed and completing regulatory forms;
  • specify any special equipment access requirements, including all safety conditions and permissions.

3. Maintain permanent and progressive records of all pressure vessels and
pressure relieving devices, including adding new information pertinent to the
operation, inspection, and maintenance history of the equipment.

4. Assuring that all local jurisdiction regulations are followed, including
completing all forms, data sheets, and reports.

 

Requirements

  • API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspector certification.
  • Oil and Gas background with upstream experience.
  • Good knowledge of all local jurisdiction laws, codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Good knowledge of corrosion and welding, including: corrosion related damage mechanisms, base metals, filler metals, heat treatment, welding metallurgy, weld and corrosion testing, fabrication planning, and welding repairs.
  • Good knowledge of qualifying welding procedure specifications (WPS) and welder/welding operator qualifications, including all regulatory requirements.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills (working in a team) are required.
  • The position comes with a company vehicle, therefore all candidates must have a valid driver license.
